Ethics

Spa Etiquette (Ethics): This is an ethics class with a focus on the Personal Care Industry; the Personal Care Industry includes most of the Day Spa Industry.  Today, there is a great demand for massage therapists who are skilled enough to work in this industry.  In fact, massage therapists are expected to perform many of adjunctive services such as: body wraps, body polishing, and product sales.  Massage Therapists interested in this field are dealing with “spa owners” and “spa clients."  These two groups are much different than those in the “health services” environment.  This class will prepare the massage therapist to work ethically within the walls of this environment.
Prerequisite: Professional Massage Therapist

A Male Focus on Ethics:  This class is focused on issues specific to men.  The majority of grievances involve male massage therapists.  This class not only focuses on the Code of Ethics as published by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork, but also involves intimate and pointed discussion to help male therapists keep from becoming a “grievance” statistic.  This is done by using conflict and argument meant to provoke honest response and resolution to ethical questions unique to men.  Class Information is the same as above and this class is Approved by the NCB.
Prerequisite: Professional Massage Therapist

Ethics for Massage Therapists:  This ethics class is for all massage therapists interested in discussing boundary issues that arise in the treatment room, as well as business ethics, ethical selling, scope of practice, etc.  In addition to going over the NCBTMB Code of Ethics and some lecture, this class will use confrontational techniques to draw students into conflict, and then conflict resolution. Class Information is the same as above and this class is Approved by the NCB.
Prerequisite: Professional Massage Therapist

Client-Centric Selling:   This course is meant to help health services providers know that it is ethical to sell products to a client in an altered state of mind, providing the service offered is "Client-Centric."  Using text, lecture handouts and cless participation in lively debate, it is expected that the therapist will become better by offering therapeutic, client-centric, products and services to their customers and be able to present these in a customer-centric way.
